Business Administration Programs

Our Business programs prepare students for the labor market to assume management or supervisory positions in the business industry.

Business related jobs are the fastest growing occupations in the United States. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in administrative services is expected to grow 8% from 2014 to 2024.

In addition, the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Metropolitan area is No. 1 in the U.S. Startup Activity among the 40 metropolitan areas of the country and is No. 10 for Small Business Economy in the nation, according to the Kauffman Foundation. 1 out of 10 adult owns a business in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area, which makes up 90% of the economy of South Florida.

UIC offers the tools for students to become entrepreneurs. We are an institution that has incubated many successful businesses throughout our history. Be ready to become your own boss.

International Business Management Programs

Our International Business Management programs prepare students for the labor market to assume management or supervisory positions in the international business and trade industry.

South Florida is a key location for learning about international trade and commerce since it stands right in the middle of the Western Hemisphere, and attracts a large business international community.

Port Miami and Port Everglades are both located in the South Florida region creating a hub for trade companies with businesses in Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Far East. Port Miami is the closest container port to the Panama Canal, which facilitates fastest access to the US consumer market.  UIC students take tours of the seaports and the Foreign Trade Zones.

Meet Elizabeth Arregoces and learn about her business KSA Tours

Elizabeth Arregoces, Class of 2005, enrolled in our Business Program with a dream to have a company that would offer shuttle transfer service to airports and seaports to tourists in the South Florida region.

Throughout her coursework at UIC, Elizabeth developed her idea with a strong foundation and named her company KSA Tours. Today, her company has a fleet of vehicles to transfer tourists from and to seaports, hotels and airports. KSA Tours also offers tours and even has Party Buses. She even opened a garage to maintain and repair the fleet of vehicles and reduce costs. The garage is also open to the public. And, as if the fleet and the garage weren’t enough, she opened a parking lot, which is managed by her son, for her customers to park their vehicles while being away on their vacation. Thus, this is the third source of income that her business mind created as a result of her initial idea of KSA Tours.
