Photography Gallery

Students of the Photography and Photojournalism courses embark on a journey to capture with their camera lenses the stories of real people working and living in real settings. The aim is to tell a story through the image. The photography gallery exhibits works from Brickell Construction Workers, Shots at Night, and Fashion Photography.

Play Time (2016) is an empowering short documentary film about the experiences of the Fenton & Hernandez families treating their children diagnosed with autism with DIRFloortime®, a comprehensive relationship-based therapy to autism and any other developmental disorders. Winner of the “Most Impactful Film” Award of the Hollywood Florida Film Festival.

A Hero in Making (2017)

Synopsis

A Hero in Making (2017) is a short documentary that follows the stories of three children diagnosed with different types of cancer and their battles for life. Each one of these inspirational stories represents the fight of a real life hero. Lucas is one young man who survived cancer and is determined to raise awareness and help those dealing with the same situation. Brandon is in remission, but still bravely undergoing the last series of treatment. Valeria passed away, but her spirit remains alive through her moving story told by her family. A Hero in Making (2017) honors these three heroes and every single person affected by pediatric cancer, while sending a message of hope, faith and strength.

Students’ Bios

Sandra Fierro is a photographic artist, Born in Bogota, Colombia in 1990. She moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2009 to study Professional Photography at Universidad de Palermo. In 2012, she moved back to Bogota, Colombia where she took some courses of Photography, and later in the same year, she moved to Miami, Florida, United States, to study English as a Second Language. In 2016, she graduated from an Associate Degree in Communications and Mass Media at United International College (UIC) and is currently completing her Bachelor degree in the same field at UIC.

As an enthusiastic freelance professional Photographer, Sandra is committed to delivering guaranteed results and remaining true to a unique artistic vision. She has experience in social events, real estate and also as a photographer behind the scenes in the video clip Beauty Queen (2016). She also worked with Campanario as a post-production logger and also with Tuyo TV as Production assistant. She is currently producing the short documentary A Hero in Making (2017), inspired in pediatric cancer. Her goal is to work in television as a photographer or in production.

Alina Morisca is a Romanian woman who has always wanted to live in America, so years ago she hugged her family good bye and started what was going to be the journey of her life in the pursuit of her own dreams. She received her first Bachelor Degree in Social Communication and Public Relations in 2009 in Romania and, after moving to USA, she earned an Associate Degree and a BA in Communications and Mass Media at United International College.

Alina is a member of the US Army and is currently working on developing a career path in this field. She loves God, her family and friends, her puppy, music, film, photography, writing, and everything that is related to communication because communication is the key to success.

Her debut as a filmmaker is A Hero in Making (2017), a short documentary about pediatric cancer. She has also volunteered for local film festivals and worked on a couple of photography projects.

Although she doesn’t know what her next step in life will be, she is looking forward to embracing whatever the future has in stock for her.

Manuel Romero, photographer, videographer, and video editor from Colombia, finished his studies of TV and Film Production in Bogotá; months later, he moved to USA, where he studied English and recently finished his Bachelor in Communications and Mass Media at United International College.

Some of his recent works include Play Time (2016), a short documentary about autism, winner of the ‘Most Impactful Film’ award in the last edition of the Hollywood Florida Film Festival; and the short documentary The World of an Artist, which is currently, semi-finalist in the selection stage of the Los Angeles CineFest, in California.

Manuel is a freelancer dedicated to capturing with his camera lens life around.

Vanessa Guerrero is a professional in Marketing and Business, graduated from Universidad Autonoma in Colombia. Major experience in banking, finances, and sales. After 5 years working as a Branch Manager for an important Financial Institution she decided to move to USA, improving her English and becoming an entrepreneur who uses a platform that helps companies in Florida attract customers using marketing tools. She is a photography addicted, and that’s why she enrolled with the photography program at United International College, where she explored more about her creative skills.
