Merging Artificial Intelligence and Business
Dania Beach, Florida – Nicolas Guzman, a sophomore majoring in Business Administration at United International College has been invited to speak at the upcoming Commit Your Code Conference on September 25th in Dallas, Texas. He came to the United States to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and to continue his education leading to a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at United International College in Dania Beach, Florida. Fluent in English and Spanish, Nick loves South Florida, its diversity, and the different cultures and traditions.
In his native Colombia, Nicolas attended the Universidad de La Sabana and graduated in 2014 with his degree in Computer Engineering with a major in Software Engineering, Chia, Colombia. He is the recipient of several awards, among them for his Outstanding Thesis/Dissertation and Best Thesis Research and Dissertation about Quantified Self and Learning Analytics.
As a software engineer, Nick spends a lot of time, outside of his classes and family responsibilities, researching and publishing articles on artificial intelligence and cloud computing. At the conference, he will present a workshop on cloud technologies, drawing from both his technical experience and the broader perspective he is gaining through his business studies.
The conference brings together developers, engineers, business leaders, and enthusiasts who are passionate about advancing technology and innovation. His goal is not only to share insights about cloud, but also to highlight the importance of building a bridge between software engineering and business.
“I believe that understanding both worlds allows us to create solutions that are technically sound while also aligned with market needs and organizational strategy,” said Nicolas Guzman. Nick added, “Speaking at this conference gives me the chance to contribute to that dialogue, connect with peers across disciplines, and encourage a more holistic approach to technology and business.”
“Nicolas Guzman is a hard-working individual who continually achieves work–life balance and is a role model for other students,” said Professor Jack J. Rose, who has had the pleasure of having Nick in three of his courses. “He is extremely knowledgeable, and I know he will be enthusiastically embraced at the conference. He is a walking encyclopedia on artificial intelligence and its importance in business today.
Nick and his wife welcomed their son during the summer, and it wouldn’t surprise me if their son follows in his father’s footsteps. His enthusiasm and expertise on artificial intelligence in business are evident in his class discussions, term projects, and presentations,” Rose continued, and he is truly a motivational role model to all of our fantastic students and the entire team at United International College.”
After the conference, Nick will share his experiences with his peers and faculty at United International College.

Music as Art Decorates Time: Defining and Understanding Identity and Culture
Written by Dr. Marcela Moyano
The Founder, CEO, and Artistic Producer of Realm 26 Studio, Ignacio Palladino, together with Nico Gomez, Sound Engineer and Production Assistant, were the virtual guest speakers for the CMM 1000 Introduction to Mass Communications and Media Literacy course, taught by Dr. Marcela Moyano, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, via the Online Campus.
The course introduces students to the history and evolution of media industries and explores how, through technology, each medium has transformed into what we know today as media convergence. Students engage in discussions about the ethical implications of content production, the global impact of media, and the application of communication theories.
As part of this week’s focus on the evolution of the music industry, Palladino and Gomez were invited to share their experience as the creators of Realm 26 Music Lab—a boutique artist incubator in Fort Lauderdale that empowers musicians with state-of-the-art equipment.
One of the lab’s key features is recording live sessions and engaging with an online audience. The discussion highlighted how music studios today are not only about producing high-quality sound but also about incorporating video recording and editing to connect with followers in more dynamic ways.
Palladino reflected on his personal journey, shaped by growing up listening to his father play the piano. His father later became his greatest supporter in every musical project. In his 40s, Palladino decided to dedicate himself fully to his true passion—music—after a decade-long career in Silicon Valley as a software engineer.
“In the cryptocurrency world, I was trained to keep pushing, to try new things, to take risks, and to innovate with what they call ‘guardrails,’” Palladino shared. “After some years, I thought, now it’s my turn to innovate. I’m going to create a studio that is also a stage—because we not only want to capture the music being performed, but also the images of the music being performed.”
The speakers also addressed the growing presence of AI in music production. With tools such as Suno, users can create songs within minutes, and platforms like Spotify are increasingly filled with AI-generated music by non-musicians. Palladino and Gomez emphasized, however, that AI will never replace the human element of creativity. While AI is creating “noise” in digital platforms, they believe authentic musicians will continue to stand out.
They also shared words of encouragement: “People may celebrate your successes, but you might not feel they are true achievements. Conversely, you may feel deeply fulfilled by something others do not recognize. If, in your heart, an achievement feels meaningful, keep following that path—even if those around you don’t celebrate it—because that is your true path.”
United International College is grateful to Ignacio Palladino, Nico Gomez, and the entire Realm 26 team for joining the CMM 1000 Introduction to Mass Communications and Media Literacy course and for sharing their wisdom and passion for the music industry.

September 17: UIC Celebrates Constitution Day
Written by Dr. Deborah Mendez
On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they created. Today, we honor the document that guarantees Americans their essential rights and serves as the basis for all other laws. The Constitution outlines the government's powers, the limitations on those powers, and the rights of citizens.
The students of UIC celebrated this day by having a guest speaker and live-streaming events from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. John Mendez, JD, a recent graduate of St. Thomas Law School, spoke to the ENC 1101 students about the writing of the Constitution and how it is a living document contract between the people and their representatives, and remains one of the most respected documents globally.
The ENC 1102 classes watched the live reading of the Preamble in front of the National Constitution Center. They focused on analyzing the meaning, importance, and impact of the Bill of Rights.
Today, we celebrate the signing of the Constitution by exploring the everyday relevance of the document- how its principles shape our personal freedoms, civic duties, and digital lives. We celebrate our love for the United States of America and the Blessing of Freedom our Founding Fathers secured for us.
Business Professor Jack Rose purchased copies of the Constitution of the United States Booklet to distribute to students who had reviewed and understood the Constitution during class.
UIC is grateful to its honorable faculty members who educate students on their rights as citizens of the United States of America.
Entrepreneur Guiding Future Entrepreneurs
Written by Prof. Jack Rose
Ft. Lauderdale, FL – Rob Wild, owner of Masa & More in Fort Lauderdale, opened both his heart and doors to share his journey as an entrepreneur with students in Professor Jack J. Rose’s Entrepreneurship and Venture Creation class at United International College in Dania Beach.
Mr. Wild’s background was both inspiring and intriguing. After participating in the college’s graduation lunch celebration, Rob emphasized the importance of “taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.” He explained how Masa & More was once a struggling business—until he embraced the challenge and transformed it into one of Fort Lauderdale’s most popular waterfront dining venues.
Prior to owning Masa & More, Rob operated a commercial lending brokerage that specialized in funding small to medium-sized businesses in need of working capital to launch, manage, or grow their operations. With his innovative approach to business development, Rob successfully funded over $1 billion in working capital.
In addition to his restaurant and lending brokerage, Rob founded a Business Coaching, Consulting, and Employee Development Training firm shortly after earning his MBA. His firm now serves a wide range of clients—from small startups to Fortune 500 companies.
Beyond his business ventures, Rob is also developing a mental health program aimed at helping individuals overcome emotional challenges stemming from childhood trauma.
After hearing about Rob’s inspiring background, Professor Rose approached him and expressed a desire to seize an opportunity—the opportunity to bring a lifelong entrepreneur into his classroom. Rob, who chuckled and admitted he began his entrepreneurial journey selling donuts to classmates in school, eagerly agreed.
During his visit, Rob shared his entrepreneurial philosophies and what drives his motivation for success. The students impressed him with thoughtful questions and their evident passion for launching their own ventures. As a follow-up, Rob invited the class to Masa & More for a private tour and tasting experience. Professor Rose, along with United International College President Lydia Bautista and Director of Communications Dr. Marcela Moyano, accompanied the students for this special visit.

And the food? WOW. Each dish was more impressive than the last. The students unanimously rated the cuisine a perfect 10/10—for taste, presentation, and the outstanding service provided by Rob’s dedicated team.
While presenting Rob Wild with a Certificate of Appreciation, Professor Rose remarked,
“I met Rob almost two months ago and was immediately impressed by his knowledge, personality, entrepreneurial spirit, and business acumen. I’ve always told my students that building relationships with all stakeholders is vital. I couldn’t miss the opportunity to introduce them to Rob—and in doing so, I practiced what I preached. Rob accepted my invitation without hesitation, and a strong business relationship was born.”
Rob Wild’s visit was a valuable experience for United International College students—a vivid example of how entrepreneurial success, generosity, and education can intersect to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Remember the Laughters, the Tears, and the Memories We Share
Written by Ana Regina Bucio
Collective Thoughts, a Publication Series edited by Dr. Debbie Mendez
Mexico City, DF, Mexico— It was October of 2012, and I was coming back from school, but unlike other days, my parents didn’t pick me up. Anyways, I was so excited to arrive home and see my new baby brother, the sun was shining, my eyes were bright, my feet were eager to run faster, and my arms were ready to hug. When I arrived, I crossed the yard and opened the front door, and a cold breeze came out of the house.
I was looking for my parents until the door to the furthest room opened. There they were, waiting for me with smiles on their faces, but I could see the sadness in their eyes. I ran to their arms and asked them what was wrong, then my eyes dimmed, my feet felt heavy and tired, and my arms fell, unable to hug. My baby brother had gone to heaven that day. I was devastated. Suddenly, I began to think of all the things I could have done with him, all the clothes my parents had bought for him, and the dreams of having a brother that vanished rapidly. The following months felt empty, despite my daily routine remaining the same: going to school, doing homework, taking baths, reading, and sleeping, and on some weekends that we went to the park or watched a movie, something was missing, someone was missing.
I felt guilty about enjoying those moments for months because I wanted my little brother to share them with me. I started to neglect enjoying time with those still around me, mainly my
parents, who I now realize were going through a harder time than I was. I was selfish to think it only affected me. But then, faith came again into our family when one day God blessed me with not one, not two, but three little siblings who make me the happiest person on earth today. They brought light and laughter back into our home. I slowly learned that it was okay to share and rejoice in life again, knowing that my brother was watching over us. Years passed, and later, just when I thought we had begun to heal, my mom received a call from the hospital, but this time it was about my dad. My aunt had brought him there because he had been having a bad pain and when he was admitted by the doctors they told us he had a bad incident going on inside of him and that it was a miracle he was still alive, on the other hand, the procedure they had to do came with a 90% death rate. It was the scariest event we had ever faced, and that made me realize more than ever if I had enjoyed the time with my dad enough and if I was prepared in case the procedure failed. And I realized that you will never be prepared to let someone you love that much go, but that is another story altogether.
Through all of this, my little brother taught me to enjoy every moment of life, be grateful for those who are still with us, and to allow myself to feel the sadness of loss. It's okay to miss
someone and cry their absence, but we must also honor them by living our lives fully. My heart learned that moving forward doesn't mean forgetting, it means carrying their memory with us.
Whether it's talking to them through the stars or sending cards to those far away to remind them they are lovable, just let them know, because we never know when our last moments will be, so it's better to remember the laughters, the tears, and the memories we share, rather than regret the things you wished you had said or done with them.

United International College Hosted Pitch & Thrive Business Expo Showcasing Student Entrepreneurs
Dania Beach, FL — Students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation course at United International College, led by Professor Jack Rose, hosted the Pitch & Thrive Business Expo on Friday, April 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the college’s new campus at 249 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004.
At the Expo, students presented their business ideas, outlining their primary and secondary target markets, the products and/or services they offered, and their five-year visions for growth. The event provided students real-world experience pitching their ventures while engaging with the community and receiving valuable feedback.
Professor Jack Rose emphasized both the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship, stating, “Opening a business is a challenge, but for long-term success, the most important ingredient is growing your business.” He added, “Demographics change frequently, and data analytics are crucial.
